Data Reporting Specialist

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Reporting Specialist is responsible for core data analyst functions such as responding to requests for complex data extraction and analytics, producing and interpreting data summaries and reports, participating on cross-functional project teams, and other projects as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • 2 + years of experience performing significant data analysis and report development.
  • 1 + years of Managed health care experience preferred. Specific knowledge of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and CMS rules a plus.
  • 2 + years’ experience in designing and developing SQL queries which obtain data from various sources (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, and MS Access)
  • Ability to interview (gather specifications), document, present, and test reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, etc) including experience creating pivot tables, data table development, and data inquires.
  • Superior project management, analytic skills, and ability to work within time frames and handle multiple duties
  • Proficiency in Power Point and preparing presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot and organize significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem solver with desire and ability to enhance and automate systems and reports
  • Solid oral and written communication directed at various levels of the organization (IT, Management, Operations, Front Line)
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language with great attention to detail
  • Strong customer service orientation and proven success in helping to build and maintain a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience with the following is a PLUS but not required:  EDI Transaction sets 834, 835, 837

DUTIES

  • Respond to daily report requests from leadership.
  • Interpret data, analyze results to support and/or drive decision making. 
  • Identify issues and trends through data analysis. 
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Work with various departments to understand, set-up and run standard reports to support their individual functions. 
  • Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Prepare presentations for leadership. Builds new reports per requirements.
  • Modifies, maintains, and enhances existing and scheduled reports.
  • Responds to and provides fixes for report defects/deficiencies.
  • Responds to requests for ad hoc data sets.
  • Writes queries in support of ad hoc data requests, and to validate report data to requirements.
  • Develops appropriate graphical reports, including spreadsheets, charts, graphs and pixel-perfect reports to support internal and external customers.
  • Supports internal and external customers providing appropriate communication about deliverables through all phases of report development and deployment.
  • Other duties as needed to support the Business Intelligence and Reporting Architect or other Data Operations activities
  • Conducts thorough follow-up and effective resolution and communication in response to other departmental inquiries and requests
  • Works closely and collaboratively with other departments
  • Effective understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Performs other duties, assignments and responsibilities as assigned or required
